From works like Gaia and Labyrinths in the mid 80s,to working with Braxton in his classic quartet, or her sumptuous interpretations of Annette Peacockís music withan equally brilliant trio, to her present day explorations of the possibilities in music, Marilyn Crispellís unquenchable brilliance is a testimony to her enduring spirit. A spirit that is recognised and continued by Scotlandís own RaymondMacDonald. MacDonaldís adventures in modern musicare unmatched on the UK improvisation scene. His willingness to embrace challenging situations and see what happens has enabled him to work with the cream of the international scene - G¸nter Sommer, George Lewis,Axel Dorner and Steve Noble to name but a few, but it is his great sincerity that allows these encounters to produce some moments of sublime musicality. This duo is atestimony to the continuing importance of improvisation for the development of music today.
